Sometimes civil lawsuits can arise in the area of medial billing and coding. It is important if you plan to go into this field, that you familliarize your self with different things that may apply to your profession. Today we will be focusing on contracts. Civil law suits can arise when there is a dispute over civil laws and unfulfilled contracts. A contract, by deffinition, is an agreement between two parties where one person agrees to do something, and the other person agrees to do something in return. Usually it involves money, but it can be anything of value such as; a house, a car, or some sort of service. An example of an contract would be someone fixing a car in exchange for painting a room. A contract is a voluntary agreement two people who are referred to as a party to the contract. A contract will need to have some elements present to be legally binding and enforceable by law. They are;
1) There must be an offer to do something by one party
2) The offer must be communicated to the second party
3) The offer must be made in good faith
4) There must be acceptance of the offer by a second party
5) The second party must accept the offer without duress – meaning the offer must be accepted at the free will of the second party and not forced in any way.
6) The contract must define clearly what both parties will be doing.
7) There must be a date reflecting when the contract was made
There must be a date of termination if the contract is not met
9) There must be consideration (exchange being made).
10) The offer must be legal
11) Both parties must be mentally competant to enter into the contract. For example, a minor cannot enter into a legal contract. However, medical care sufficient to save a minors life can be given without permission of a legal guardian.
If an agreement does not conform to the legal defintion of a contract , then the agreement is void. We will look more closely about how contracts pertain to the field of medical billing and coding tomorrow.

They also use software to put the information into the computer and keep it updated. This is just some of what technicians do and their median pay back in 2006 was more than $28K.
Medical office management personnel are something that doctors offices rely on to help their patients and make sure that they are taken care of properly. They are people who keep things running smoothly.
With the advances in technology, a lot of nurses are turning to nursing informatics certification to impart their knowledge to other nurses and to help patients in a new and exciting way. But when a nurse decides to get their certification, they don’t realize that there are some guidelines that should follow in order to be successful.
Here are some good guidelines for someone who is interested in certification to follow.
• Find a mentor – Find someone who is already in the field and shadow them at their job to gain a better understanding of what nursing informatics entails.
• Become RN – Go through the coursework and take the NCLEX exam in order to become a registered nurse.
• Choose a Route – Most people do not know that there are two things that a nurse can do in order to get their BS in nursing:
1. Compete associate’s degree in a nursing program and then follow that by continuing education to get the degree for Bachelor of Science.
2. Complete bachelor of science nursing degree and then continue by working in clinics in order to get a better nursing field understanding. The person can also volunteer to help with technology and computers so that they are able to get more experience.
• Take either a campus program or an online program in order to get the nursing informatics master’s degree or a post graduate certificate in nursing informatics.
• Get nursing informatics certification either through HIMSS or ANNC.
After the original certification is obtained, it’s important for someone to maintain the credits they need to remain certified.
